This can’t happen to a MIDI clip, as Ableton automatically saves it to the project folder even when loading in a MIDI file. Whether it’s been deleted or moved, Ableton can’t find it. This means that the location of the file is unknown by Ableton. The other reason is when the audio clip says, “ Sample Offline.” This could be because of a change of location of the file associated with the clip the audio file could be damaged, an external issue (such as your audio interface), or you could have deactivated the clip.
